Seeking to introduce Oakland’s parents to the city’s vast network of 30 unique tuition-free charter schools, Oakland Enrolls will host a free one-day street fair for parents and kids on Sat. Jan. 31 where they can learn about the different schools to help them apply before the Feb.13 deadline.
The free event only happens once a year in Oakland and it’s designed as an easy “one stop shop” for curious parents who want to talk directly to principals and students from the city’s charter schools and can apply to the schools of their choice.
The free fair at Lazear Charter Academy will take place from 10 AM to 2 PM on Saturday, Jan. 31 and include free food, a DJ, facepainting, and raffles where parents can win tickets to the Oakland Zoo, sporting events, and more.

Last night, OUSD failed the BayTech family and the Oakland community. Students, parents, staff, and supporters stood strong in the face of a decision that ignored our voices. We fought with courage, love, and unity. We may have lost this battle, but we will not lose the war. On to the county we go. Oakland needs BayTech. Our kids are worth fighting for!! ✊🏾💙🧡
