Bay Area Technology School (BayTech) is a 6–12th grade charter school in Oakland, California, focused on personalized, technology-infused education. A LISC partner since 2022, BayTech is one of the city’s oldest charter schools and a leader in using assistive technology to create individualized learning experiences for its students.
LISC provided a $2.25 million loan to help complete construction of BayTech’s new facility, transforming a 24,000-square-foot former theater and church into a state-of-the-art school for 350 students. Serving a predominantly underserved population—85% of whom qualify for free or reduced-price meals, are in foster care, experiencing homelessness, or learning English—BayTech boasts a 92.5% graduation rate and 100% UC/CSU admission eligibility for graduates. This investment reflects LISC’s commitment to supporting schools that advance educational equity and strengthen communities.
