Success
BayTech-Oakland has made a steady progress in student achievements in its first three years of operation. Our teachers strive for excellence and will continue to improve our API growth rate in the upcoming years.
API Progress
BayTech-Oakland showed outstanding performance growth in API considering the challenging demographics of the area that it is serving for. The school student body is largely from a socio-economically disadvantaged population; currently 78% of the students are qualified for free or reduced lunch. BayTech-Oakland has far exceeded the first growth targets specified by the State for the year 2005-2006, its second school year since opening, as described in below
Figure 1 BayTech-Oakland exceeded targets for all students as well as all subgroups
BayTech-Oakland has increased its school-wide API by 29 points more than tripled the state required API growth target of 9 points. Figure 2 shows school-wide API growth compared to the growth of the State and the District in the past two years.
Figure 3 BayTech-Oakland API growth among subgroup-African American students in the past two years, compared to the State and District averages and growths in the same subgroup (About 75% of the students are African American at BayTech-Oakland)
An excellent API growth of 62 points has been observed on socio-economically disadvantaged student population, as shown in Figure 4.
