BayTech has participated in I-Sweeep with two projects in Sustainable Energy section. To demonstrate their projects in the olympiad, two BayTech students and their instructor went to Houston, Texas between the dates of May 1 and May 5, 2008.
BayTech teachers and students put a significant efford on I-Sweep projects. Three teachers and ten students have been involved in 10 projects for three months. Finally, two projects were accepted out of four submited projects by I-Sweeep committee.

What is I-Sweeep?
AN INTERNATIONAL SUSTAINABLE WORLD SCIENCE FAIR (I-SWEEEP)
by COSMOS FOUNDATION in HOUSTON, TEXAS.
May 5, 2008- The world we live in today has provided a sanctuary for humanity for
thousands of years. We enjoyed the abundance of our resources so far. It is clear that our
methods and models for human development cannot continue indefinitely without putting
a great burden on future generations. What is needed is a concerted effort by everybody
to realize the enormity of the problems the world will face unless we adopt “sustainable
development” principles.
With this challenge in mind, the Cosmos Foundation has recently organized an
international science project Olympiad focusing on energy, engineering, and
environment. The I-SWEEEP (International Sustainable World Project: Energy,
Engineering, Environment) was held in George R. Brown Convention Center in Houston,
TX between 1-5 May, 2008. I-SWEEEP was sponsored by the Cosmos Foundation, the
parent organization of the Harmony School System with the support of energy companies
and prestigious universities such as Rice University, Texas A&M University, University
of Texas, University of Houston, and Louisiana State University. I-SWEEEP aims to stimulate interest in our planet’s problems, to find practical solutions
to these challenges, and to accelerate the progress towards a sustainable world by
engaging young minds early on.
The international flavor was obvious during the Olympiad. More than 400 research
projects from 51 different countries and 38 states of the United States have been
displayed at I-SWEEEP 2008. Displayed projects were selected among more than one
thousand applications from all over the world. Students enjoyed the opportunity of
meeting their friends from different parts of the world while seeing that they are not the
only ones who committed to find solutions to globe’s problems to prepare a sustainable
future for humanity.
