Job Opportunity : Science Department Chair. Position Requires Bachelor’s Degree in Physics Education, Science Education or related degree & 5 yrs. experience teaching high school or middle school Science. Duties include: Supervising and evaluating all department teachers; mentoring department teachers; proposing curricular changes for the Principal's review; preparing class schedules for the Principal's review; advising new and continuing teachers within department; suggesting collaborative initatives; overseeing department instructions; performing tasks related to student admissions, transfer and graduation; leading program reviews and accredidations; helping recruit faculty and students; teaching a more limited course load, as determined by Principal; teaching duties that include instructing students through a variety of teaching methods, such as lectures and demonstrations, as well as using audiovisual aids and other materials to supplement textbooks and presentations; working with students individually to ascertain students’ scientific potential; planning and evaluating the science classroom curriculum; Presenting science lessons and setting homework assignments; drafting, administering and grading science exams; observing and evaluate students’ performance and preparing them to succeed in passing government standardized testing; preparing report cards and meeting with parents and school staff to facilitate students’ academic progress.
