SFSU Visit

Bay Tech students had the opportunity to experience the college life atmosphere on March 10, 2010, as they toured the campus of San Francisco State University.

The students from 10^th and 11^th grades were chosen to participate in this select group as Mr.Ortak coordinated this event, along with Ms Poindexter and Ms Hayes who assisted with chaperoning the students.

This is a great chance for our students to explore a college campus and learn about the many programs offered in science, math, creative arts, music, business, psychology, physical education and teacher programs. San Francisco State University opened in the 1890’s as a teacher preparation education college. Today the college has expanded its programs in many different areas to offer a more diverse curriculum for students.

As we toured the campus facilities, the motivating tour group members provided the students with excellent resources for applying to colleges, financial aid tips, recommendation letter requirements and the many diverse programs offered at San Francisco State. Many students inquired about the tuition cost, housing options on campus, campus clubs and the selection of programs offered on campus. The students were immersed in the college atmosphere for a day, exploring their surroundings and feeling like a part of a ‘college student’. We hope to organize more college field trips for the Bay Tech students and lead them on the right pathway towards a college education. This is just the beginning for many of our students, with many of the resources and tools available to them , we will give them a new perspective on college life.
