The mission of Bay Area Technology School is to serve students in grades 6 through 8 in Oakland by:

Preparing them to become responsible, educated citizens who have the skills and understanding to participate and work productively in a diverse, multicultural community.

Enabling them to become math, science and technology literate, self-motivated, life-long learners equipped with communication and presentation skills indispensable for the technologically oriented global environment of the 21st century.

Providing a standards-based curriculum with emphasis on math, science, and technology that is supported by state-of-the-art science and computer labs.

Providing academic and recreational after-school activities and opportunities for parental involvement with the aim of enabling students to attain a healthy body, a healthy mind and the disciplinary and behavioral standards necessary for their future endeavors.
